UB CITY TOUR
THE CITY TOUR will run every Saturday from the 10th of June until October the 14th,
it will start at 09:00 am and continue till 19:30 pm. The
tour departs from the main parking area of the State Department Store
(south gate). Please register at the Tourist information center on the first floor of
the State Department Store building.

08:50 The tour will start at the State Department store.
By 08:50 tourists should be seated in the bus that will be parked directly in
front of the building.
09:00 The first part of the tour
will take participants to the northern urban communities of Ulaanbaatar, this area is
known as the ger district. The bus will visit the 250 year old Buddhist temple Dambadarjaa Monastery. During
this section of the tour, participants will learn about the history and
significance of religious leader Bogd II, The Eye Pyramid, and Buddhist temple
architecture. Tourists will also learn of the historical and cultural importance of Buddhist
religious sites in Mongolia.
11:00 The tour will proceed to visit The Amarsanaa-Mongolian
where tourists will learn about
the traditional Mongolian culture of literacy. Participants will have their names written in
traditional Mongolian calligraphy upon parchment to be taken home as souvenirs.
12:00 Next, tourists will visit
the Mongolian National Museum, which contains 10 historical departments and a hall with information on over 50 thousand important
sites with artifacts.
14:00 Lunch will be eaten in the Hard
Rock Cafe, which
has 170 branches in 72 countries across the world. Tourists will have the option of viewing the
micro museum curated within the Hard Rock Shop, this museum features musical instruments,
clothes and stationaries of rock stars from around the world. It is located right next door to the Hard

16:30 The bus will
continue to the famous Gobi brand
cashmere factory, here tourists will be able to view
the production of Mongolian cashmere first hand. There will also be an opportunity to shop at the Gobi cashmere outlet store.
18:00 Next, tourists will see a traditional Tumen-Ekh performance. Such a
performance can include the playing of a horse headed fiddle, throat singing,
traditional Mongolian long song, folk song, national orchestra, Buddhist mask
dance, shaman dance, and Mongolian folk dance.
19:10 Before returning to the
department store the bus will visit Sukhbaatar
square, a symbol of Mongolian national independence. Here tourists will view the
State Ceremony Palace and learn of its history and dedication to Chinggis khaan, the founder of
the Mongolian Empire.
19:30 The tour
will end at the State Department Store.
